The diorama captures the moment after the impact with the barrier, as the car remains stranded across the racing line with its wheels torn off.

George Russell experienced a dramatic ending to the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. On the final lap, he attempted to overtake Fernando Alonso, who was running in sixth place. With fresher tyres after a late pit stop, Russell launched several DRS-assisted attacks. However, in the fast turn 6/7 section, he lost control of his Mercedes. The car slammed into the barrier, came to rest across the track, and flipped onto its side. Russell immediately reported over the radio that he was okay, but urgently called for a red flag. Race control responded only after a few seconds with a virtual safety car. Alonso was later penalized for dangerous driving, having suddenly slowed before the corner. The incident capped off a difficult weekend for Mercedes, as Lewis Hamilton had already retired due to a technical issue. Russell’s crash meant a double DNF for the team and further decline in the Constructors’ Championship standings.

The basis is a resin model of Mercedes W15, customised according to records and photos from the accident. 

Quality handwork. The model and accessories are mounted firmly on a base and equipped with an acrylic display case.
