Unique diorama of Fernando Alonso’s crash from first lap of the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix.

The diorama captures the moment after the collision with Charles Leclerc’s Sauber, when Alonso has come to a stop in the run-off area and is climbing out of the cockpit, while track marshals and rescue personnel are arriving at the scene.

During the opening lap of the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso was involved in a dramatic crash at the La Source corner. Nico Hülkenberg, driving for Renault, misjudged his braking and collided with the rear of Alonso’s McLaren, launching it into the air. Alonso’s car flew over Charles Leclerc’s Sauber, striking the cockpit area. All three cars were severely damaged and had to retire from the race immediately. Leclerc’s car showed visible signs of impact, especially on the Halo protection system. This device likely prevented serious injury to Leclerc. Alonso emerged unscathed and later stated that the incident highlighted the importance of the Halo system. Hülkenberg received a ten-place grid penalty for causing the accident. The crash sparked discussions about safety and driver responsibility in the opening corners of races. Fortunately, no one was injured, underscoring the value of modern safety features in Formula 1.

The basis is a resin model of McLaren MCL33, customised according to records and photos from the accident. 

Quality handwork. The model and accessories are mounted firmly on a base and equipped with an acrylic display case.
