What should you know about Ottomobile?
OttOmobile models are made exclusively from resin and are produced in two main scales: 1:18 and 1:12. One of the significant changes this year concerns the packaging. While models were previously supplied in closed boxes, secured in a polystyrene holder and without a base, new releases now come in redesigned packaging. The models are mounted on a plastic base and protected by a cardboard box with a transparent display window.
Each model released by OttOmobile comes in a limited edition. Information about the production run and exclusivity is not displayed on the base, but directly on the underside of the car. Production runs most commonly range from 999 to 3,000 pieces. Unlike some other resin model manufacturers, OttOmobile always numbers its models – the exact serial number of your model is also indicated on the underside of the body.
Reissues are also interesting and appear for the most sought-after models, such as iconic Renaults, BMW M models or Japanese sports cars. These reissues always carry a different production code (reference number), allowing collectors to clearly distinguish them from the original first edition.
The quality of the workmanship continues to improve every year. OttOmobile pays close attention to collector feedback and constantly works on improving details. Older releases occasionally had issues such as thicker windows, less precise headlights or simpler interiors. Current models, however, offer significantly better paintwork, sharper body lines, more detailed interiors and more accurate proportions. Instead of opening parts, the manufacturer focuses on maximum accuracy of detail and occasional special editions, including iconic sets with trailers or service vehicles, while all models retain the typical sealed resin design.
As one of the few resin model brands, OttOmobile also supplies spare parts with its models, such as side mirrors, small accessories like antennas and logo decals, which collectors greatly appreciate. In the past, some parts were more susceptible to damage during transport, but the brand has gradually eliminated these issues through improved packaging and stronger moulded inserts.
OttOmobile is the right choice for collectors who:
-
prefer iconic road cars rather than single-seaters or supercars
-
are looking for models that no other manufacturer has released in 1:18 scale
-
appreciate high-quality resin craftsmanship at an affordable price
-
prefer models supplied with a display case
-
collect youngtimers, hot-hatch legends or Japanese sports cars
-
accept that the models are “sealed” – without opening parts
-
prefer limited-edition models with an individual serial number
