Red Bull Racing RB7 – Sebastian Vettel, 2011, crash in practice for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, 1:18 scale More
Unique diorama of Sebastian Vettel's crash from practice session of the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
During the Friday free practice session of the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel experienced an unpleasant moment at the legendary Suzuka Circuit. The Red Bull RB7 driver was approaching the technical Degner section, known for its difficulty and for offering virtually no room for error. High speed, cool track temperatures and an aggressive turn‑in combined to make Vettel lose control of the car.
As the RB7 exited the first Degner corner, it drifted off the ideal racing line, the rear end stepped out, and Vettel was unable to bring the car back onto the track. The car then slid into the barrier, damaging the front wing, suspension and sidepod area. Although the incident occurred at a relatively low speed, the impact was strong enough to end Vettel’s session prematurely.
Red Bull’s mechanics immediately began repairs to ensure the car would be ready for the remaining practice sessions and qualifying. Vettel escaped without injury and later remarked that Degner is one of the trickiest sections of the entire circuit — a tiny mistake is enough to send the car straight into the wall.
Despite the Friday crash, Vettel went on to finish on the podium in Sunday’s race, securing his second Formula 1 World Championship title. Suzuka thus became not only the scene of a minor mistake, but also the place where he sealed another historic achievement.
The basis is a resin model of Red Bull RB7, customised according to records and photos from the accident.
Quality handwork. The model and accessories are mounted firmly on a base and equipped with an acrylic display case.
