During the qualifying session of the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, one of the most shocking accidents of modern Formula 1 took place. Felipe Massa, driving the Ferrari F60, was approaching the fast section before Turn 4 when an approximately 800‑gram spring broke loose from Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn GP car. The metal component flew backwards at high speed and struck Massa directly on the helmet.
The impact was so severe that Massa immediately lost consciousness, and his Ferrari went straight into the tyre barrier at full speed. The session was red‑flagged at once, and the rescue teams reached the scene within seconds. Massa was transported to a hospital in Budapest, where he underwent surgery on his skull.
The investigation confirmed that the spring had come from Barrichello’s car, making the incident an extremely unfortunate accident. The crash sparked an intense debate about cockpit safety and accelerated the development of protective solutions that later led to the introduction of the Halo system.
After several months of recovery, Massa managed to return to Formula 1, but the accident remained one of the defining moments of the 2009 season, highlighting the crucial importance of modern safety technologies in motorsport.

The basis is a resin model of Ferrari F60, customised according to records and photos from the accident. 

Quality handwork. The model and accessories are mounted firmly on a base and equipped with an acrylic display case.
