At the 2023 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, a dramatic collision occurred between Alpine teammates Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. The incident took place after a late-race restart, with only a few laps remaining. Gasly slightly ran off the track, and while rejoining the racing line, he unfortunately collided with Ocon. The contact was heavy, and both Alpine cars suffered significant damage. As a result, both drivers were forced to retire from the race. The team lost valuable championship points. Although the crash was unintentional, it sparked discussions about team discipline and communication. After the race, both drivers exchanged apologies and described the incident as a racing accident. The FIA chose not to investigate further and issued no penalties. Alpine emphasized that teamwork remains a priority and avoided placing public blame. The crash was one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend and served as a reminder of how quickly things can change in Formula 1.
