Niki Lauda, the icon of Formula 1, probably doesn´t need to be introduced to anyone, not even the young generation, that started to watch F1 races only a few years ago. We remember him as a three time world champoin, a successful businessman and last but not least as the consultant in Mercedes AMG Petronas team, that breaks records from 2014 till today. His story in a duel with James Hunt was portrayed in the movie The Rush, that motosport fans have watched several times.

Manufacturer GP Replicas has decided to re-issue his last world championship winning car, the McLaren MP4/2. The race car, that had carbon monocoque and a six-cylinder turbo engine  with volume of 1,6L, engineered by Porsche, that was able to reach power up to 811 horses.

This premium model issued in series of 500 pieces on a leather base and with acrylic display cover can really attract he attention. A characteristic feature of this model is the rear wing with two side wings specific to the 1984 season, whose task was to ensure more downforce on the rear axle.

On other similar models in real, carbon parts as the floor, inner side of the rear wing or diffusor use to be cast from plain black plastic. But this is not the case by GP Replicas, where every from these above mentioned parts have carbon coating – foil with carbon imitation.

Also commendable is the processing of the Marlboro logo on the nose, that looks the way it should look based on the real car – with sharp angle. Unfortunately, other manufacturers tend to round this section on similar McLaren models from the Marlboro advertising era, that modellers subsequently modify on their own.

Probably due to the absence of licences for tobacco advertisements the model is originally issued without these ads, but the manufacturer has included in each package a whole set of decals, that each collector can manually apply to the model.

We recommend displaying the model on an original leather base and in an acrylic display case, that gives the model the well-deserved premium and, in addition, it is aesthetically attractive for everyone, not only for car model collectors.

This model is already sold out, but you can find many other Lauda or McLaren models in our shop. see the available models
