MCG is not a complete newcomer to the model car market, it has been offering to road car collectors already Volkswagen, Tatra, Volga etc. models and truck models in 1:18 scale for several years now.

Nevertheless, most collectors had minor prejudices regarding the elaboration of details, which are crucial in the case of racing cars. Finally, when the first Lotus 79 model has been released, the concerns turned to the enthusiasm evoked by the processing of the models and especially the selling price. A die-cast model in good level of detail, with a driver figure and even with a JPS advertisement. In addition, a base with a description of the model and printed red and white curbs. Such a model for 59 € is a very bargain compared to established manufacturers such as Minichamps, Spark, BBurago or Solido.

In the world of F1 models, it is often the practice that if a manufacturer decides to release a certain model, he will issue it with both drivers of the team from the given season. We assume that there will be production reasons behind this, as they will place a different figure in the same chassis and change the start numbers and the name on the car. However, MCG also surprised us in this, because Lotus 79 was released with Andretti in the version of the winner of the Belgian Grand Prix and Ronnie Peterson in the version of the winner of the Austrian Grand Prix. We can notice that these 2 cars differ in several details, even Ronnie's car has rain tyres.

It was no different in the case of the Tyrrell 006 model with Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert. In comparison of these two models, however, the differences are smaller, but this may also be due to the fact that there was not much differencies between Monaco GP (Stewart´s car) and Belgian GP (Cevert´s car) as in the case of Lotus.

The latest model from the Formula 1 series is the McLaren TAG Porsche MP4/2B with Alain Prost and Niki Lauda. In the case of Lauda, it is a model from the Dutch Grand Prix, where Lauda won his last race in his career. The Alain Prost´s McLaren is unique in that he is his first championship winning car. In the case of McLaren, unfortunatelly it did not come directly with factory made Marlboro advertisement, but in the package of each model there is a set of Marlboro decals, which each fan can apply to the model easily.
