The story behind Gulf brand:

The Gulf Company has a long history in motorsports. Its first steps in this field were made in 1936 when it supported the Morman Meteor race car, which set numerous records on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah.

However, the most famous era of the Gulf Company in motorsports came in the late 60s and early 70s of the 20th century when the Gulf brand gained international recognition due to the financial and technical support of several significant motorsport programs. The Gulf-JW Automotive team became a legendary force between 1967 and 1975 with the Ford GT40, Porsche 917, and Mirage race cars. The team achieved victory at the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race in 1968, 1969, and 1975.

The icon of motorsport, the colors of the Gulf Company, are part of its rich history. The original dark blue and orange corporate color scheme was considered too subdued for Gulf race cars, so the powder blue and orange colors of the recently acquired Wilshire Oil Company were chosen to reflect the dynamism of the brand.

Gulf is a proud partner of the iconic Williams Racing team for the 2023 Formula 1 season and beyond. In addition, Gulf has sponsored the McLaren team in the F1 and Can-Am series in the 60s of the 20th century, as well as the dominant F1 GTR, which won Le Mans in 1997.

Some of the most famous Gulf painted cars include the Ford GT40, Porsche 917, McLaren M20 Can-Am, McLaren F1 GTR, Aston Martin Vantage, and Audi R8. These cars are known for their iconic blue and orange color, which has become a symbol of success in motorsports.
